Keanu Reeves ‘ passion came to him when he was 22 years old. It was in 1986 while he was in Munich for the filming of the movie Babes in Toyland , in which he co-starred with Drew Barrymore. In those days, the Canadian actor was lent a Kawasaki KLR 600, a model that changed his life. That motorcycle is part of his collection. But the Hollywood star turned his fandom into a business. And with his company, Arch Motorcycles , he just introduced his new premium model.

More than two years and a pandemic after making a big splash with its proposal of luxury motorcycles for a very exclusive clientele, the company founded by the actor announced its long-awaited second launch on the market: the 1s, an avant-garde, high-performance sport cruiser that It is now available to anyone who is willing to spend no less than the equivalent of about 130,000 euros.

According to the brand itself, which is owned by the Matrix star, this new model represents “an evolution” that “will help define categories in the motorcycle industry,” thanks to the combination of the expected features of an Arch and its aggressive driving posture. Indeed, the Arch 1s uses the same 2,032-liter Harley Davidson V-Twin engine prepared by S&S as its predecessor, the KRGT-1; Associated with this, a six-speed gearbox with dry clutch allows it to deliver 132 HP of power.

However, it is a sportier product than that first launch, with a single-sided swingarm, a shorter wheelbase (1,661 mm versus 1,727 mm for the KRGT-1) and 17-inch BST carbon fiber wheels, among others. characteristics. This material, in fact, is present in a good part of the 1s, such as the intake and air filtration system or the fuel tank cap. They were looking for a light motorcycle, and boy did they get it: it has a dry weight of just 255 kilos.

Arch Motorcycle, story of a passion

A lifelong motorcycle fan, Keanu Reeves took advantage of the boost of his success as a professional in 2011 to have the pleasure of founding Arch Motorcycle together with designer Gard Hollinger, who had dazzled him for four years with the work he did restoring his Harley-Davidson. From that experience was derived the brand’s initial model, the KRGT-1, baptized with the actor’s initials and presented for the first time by Reeves himself at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed. It was a few months later, at the Motor Show Milan 2017, that Arch showed its first prototype of the 1S, very similar to the model that goes on sale today and that is custom produced and assembled by hand in the brand’s workshops in Los Angeles, United States.

“We are very excited to officially present the Arch 1s. With the help of our entire team and many incredible partners, we believe we have developed something truly special for motorcyclists to experience. “It’s an honor to finally see it on the road,” Hollinger said.

“It seems like yesterday when I raised the idea of creating a motorcycle company with Gard,” Reeves said in turn during the presentation of the new motorcycle. And he maintained that “It is incredible to see how far we have come in such a short time: from the incredible reception of the KRGT-1 to the new 1s as our second model. And that is a true testament to our talented design and build teams and their ability to produce something that meets Arch’s ambitions for what a motorcycle company can bring to the table in architecture, style, elegance and overall experience.”
