The cost of Ronaldo and Neymar’s competition was the second-highest in the globe

When this competition ranked second in the world in terms of spending, the transfer market in Saudi Arabia came to an unexpected conclusion.

After Cristiano Ronaldo moved to Saudi Arabia in December of last year, the Saudi Pro League spent a “mountain of money” on signing outstanding international players like Neymar, Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, and Sadio Mane.As a result, they spent the second most money in the world during the just-completed transfer window.

Saudi Pro League clubs spent 957.1 million euros in total to acquire players, trailing only the 2.81 billion euros spent by the Premier League (which boasts illustrious contracts like Moises Caicedo’s with Chelsea, Josko Gvardiol’s with Man City, and Declan Rice’s with Arsenal).

When compared to the other four major European leagues, this puts the Saudi Pro League in second place, closely followed by Ligue 1 (898.6 million euros) and Serie A (854.3 million euros). While La Liga in Spain received just 440.8 million euros, taking last place among the top leagues, Jude Bellingham alone contributed for about a quarter, the Bundelisga received 748.3 million euros.

The Saudi Arabian National Championship and European leagues vary most in that only they have expenses and very little revenue, which results in a final balance that is negative by 892 million euros.According to statistics, they only made 47 million euros from player sales.

Regarding the comparison between tournaments, Neymar said in a recent interview: “With the players who have come, I don’t know if the Saudi Arabian National Championship is better than the French Championship or not. I want to win titles with Al Hilal. That doesn’t change my opinion.”
