Ford Bronco “Big Boy” Looks Slammed, Flexes GT Supercar Muscle

As the Internet continues boil with discussions revolving around the impressive go-anywhere machine that is the 2021 Ford Bronco, we have to look into the future of the label. So while the Blue Oval offers no less than six trim levels, plus the Launch Edition, we can expect the body-on-frame toy to receive go-fast versions from both its maker and aftermarket specialists. So, here’s a rendering exploring that path.

Now that a Jeep Wrangler test vehicle has confirmed that the Bronco rival is indeed getting the HEMI V8 showcased by the 392 concept released on the same day as the Ford, the latter’s need for a performance model is obvious.

This rendering takes things to the extreme, mixing the Bronco with nothing less than the Ford GT – digital artist Timothy Adry Emanuel, who sits behind the effort, isn’t just a dreamer, but also massively skilled, since he created the base 3D model of the vehicle from scratch.

Liquid Blue, which was the launch color for the GT at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, covers highly customized real estate. To be more precise, the front apron, which is also borrowed from the supercar, is mixed with massive overfenders, which seem to include air channels below the surface.

Moving over to the other end of the beast, the diffuser that adorns the lower posterior of the vehicle is also a GT feature, even though the central exhaust setup of the supercar has been skipped in favor of a more conventional, but equally awesome four-pipe arrangement. Because you don’t want to get too crazy, right?

An air suspension is responsible for the microscopic ride height of this Bronco. And while this won’t prevent the Ford from stepping off the road (after all, the ride height can easily be increased), those custom wheels, with their shiny fat lips, certainly will.

We’ve saved the spiciest for last, as the area sitting north of the firewall is now occupied by the GT’s twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, which means this bad boy delivers no less than 660 ponies.

Oh well, at least purists can find consolation in the fact that this digital project sticks to the EcoBoost philosophy of the factory model, with the latter packing either a 2.3-liter turbo-four with 270 hp or a 2.7-liter V6 packing 310 horses.

Returning to the point made in the intro, you can expect Ford Performance to introduce a Bronco Raptor next year – while the standard car hit the market in 2021, the Raptor should land as a 2022 model.

The yet unconfirmed Bronco Raptor might not go past six cylinders after all, albeit while expected to pack north of 400 hp – with the exception of the Mustang, which has to stick to the muscle recipe that mandates a V8, Ford hasn’t put such an engine in one of its top dogs for years. Even the F-150 Raptor, which is set to be replaced soon, since a new generation of the base truck has already arrived, has to work with an EcoBoost V6.

Of course, while it’s “sensible” to expect the future Bronco range-topped to pack, say, a 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6, one can always hope for a V8 solution that would directly rival the 392-gifted Wrangler.

Then again, Texan specialist Pax Power has already announced it will throw a Coyote V8 under the hood of the new Bronco, with or without a supercharger. Of course, there will be plenty of other conversions of the sort. Meanwhile, you can regard the rendering that now occupies our screens as some sort of a preview for next year’s SEMA – fret not, the said V8 kits will be present at the Vegas show.
