Football legend Lionel Messi and his spouse Antonela jetted off to Barcelona for a delightful lunch date with Sergio Busquets and his wife. Busquets, who used to play with Messi at Barcelona, was delighted to reconnect with his old pal.

Antonela shared a picture featuring Messi and Busquets enjoying a meal, along with another couple. The group had lunch at Chalito beach restaurant, which is owned by Messi’s former teammate and good friend Luis Suarez. In her caption, Messi’s wife expressed how much they had been looking forward to going to Chalito with their loved ones. According to The Sun, the couple traveled to Spain on a private plane to meet up with their friends.

Luis Suarez didn’t attend the gathering and his spouse, Solfia Balbi, expressed her disappointment. She wished she could have been there to join the happy and beautiful people. Messi and Suarez had a close bond when they played together as strikers for Barca. They even vacationed with their families together. Although Antonela and Sofia attempted to collaborate in business ventures, it was not successful.

Messi and Suarez have been part of a tight-knit group of friends since their time at Barcelona, which also includes Busquets, Alba, and Fabregas. Busquets and Alba have played together on Barcelona’s first team for an impressive 13 years. Despite Messi’s departure for PSG last year and Suarez’s move to Atletico Madrid in 2020 after a six-year stint at Barca, the group has managed to maintain their strong bond and friendship. Additionally, Fabregas left Barca in 2014, but still remains a valued member of this close-knit group.
