515-Powered 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible 5-Speed

This 1965 Chevrolet Corvette convertible is finished in Brandywine Kandy over black leather and powered by a 515ci V8 paired with a Kiesler Engineering TKO 600 five-speed manual transmission and a 3.55:1 rear differential. Modifications include an aluminum engine block, upgraded rotating assembly, AFR cylinder heads, a Jones Engineering hydraulic roller camshaft, Jesel aluminum rockers, beehive springs, and hollow valve stems as well as a ported Edelbrock low rise intake manifold, twin Carter 800 CFM carburetors, Magnaflow mufflers, an aluminum radiator with electric fans, and Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes. The car was acquired by the seller in 2009 and is equipped with a black convertible soft top, QA1 adjustable shocks, power steering, 17″ Billet Specialties Stiletto wheels, air conditioning, and a custom JL audio system. This Corvette convertible is offered with the original 327ci V8, four-speed manual transmission, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

The car is said to have been refinished in House of Kolor Brandywine Kandy over a Galaxy Grey base coat during the refurbishment under current ownership. Features include a black convertible soft top, concealed headlights, split chrome bumperettes, fender vents, and side-exit exhaust pipes. The seller notes the body was stripped, primed, block-sanded, and then painted with nine coats of finish.

The staggered-width 17″ Billet Specialties Stiletto wheels wear Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 tires measuring 235/40 up front and 255/40 out back. The suspension features a Vette Brakes and Products Performance Plus kit with custom control arms, front and rear transverse springs, and offset rear trailing arms as well as a custom rear sway bar, Steeroids power rack and pinion steering, and custom frame bracing. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs with Wilwood six-piston front and four-piston rear brake calipers.

The cabin features front bucket seats reupholstered in black leather with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. An analog clock is mounted in the center stack, and additional features include Vintage Air climate control, a T-handle shifter, custom shoulder belts, sun visors, and a retro-style radio with a custom JL audio system. The interior is said to have been refurbished using Al Knoch Interior components, and an Air/Fuel ratio display is mounted inside the glove box.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer indicates 2,274 miles. Total mileage is unknown.

The 515ci V8 based on a Donovan aluminum engine block features a Callies crankshaft, Oliver billet rods, coated JE pistons, Total Seal rings, AFR cylinder heads, a Jones Engineering hydraulic roller camshaft, Jesel aluminum rockers, and beehive springs as well as hollow valve stems, a ported Edelbrock low-rise intake manifold, and twin Carter 800 CFM carburetors. The engine bay is fitted with an aluminum radiator with electric fans and a Billet Specialties Tru-Trac serpentine system. The removed engine is included in the sale.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Kiesler Engineering TKO 600 five-speed manual transmission and a Tom’s Differentials 3.55:1 Stage 7 rear differential. The transmission is said to feature cryogenically treated gears, carbon fiber synchro blockers, and a hydraulic clutch. The ceramic-coated Stahl headers are paired with custom exhaust piping and dual Magnaflow mufflers on each side.

The number’s-matching engine and transmission are included in the sale. The last 6-digits of the corresponding chassis VIN 102007 are stamped in the L-79 327ci V8 and Muncie M21 four-speed manual transmission and are shown in the image gallery.
