Indoor plants that don’t need sunlight: Getting an indoor plant for your place is a good way to spruce things up. These easy, and hard-to-kill plants don’t need much sunlight to thrive, hence they are perfect if you are lazy or too busy like me, but still want to have beautiful thriving plants.

PEACE LILY (SPATHIPHYLLUM)

Peace Lilies are one of the most beautiful plants you could have in your home. It’s even more beautiful when it blooms. Even though it’s easy to grow peace lilies require you to water them at least once every two weeks. When it gets thirsty the leaves bow down and begs for your attention. So you’ll know when it’s becoming dry. Though this plant is beautiful, it can be toxic to cats and dogs.

SUCCULENTS

PALMS

There are over a dozen types of indoor plants. They have different shapes, lengths, and sizes. Even though they can be unwatered they do require you to water them regularly if you want them to thrive. They don’t require tons of sunlight, too much direct sunlight with causes the plant to get sunburn and the leaves wither and dry easily. The most common problems you may experience are spider mites and the tips getting brown. However, there are many remedies for this online. I have gotten my palms from Amazon.

SNAKE PLANT (SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA)

Native to tropical West Africa from Nigeria east to the Congo. They can survive low light and drought and will also help to remove toxins from your home. Ensure to have the plant in a free-draining soil pot, because it rots easily. CHINESE EVERGREEN (AGLAONEMA)

These beauties are native to many tropical regions and are perfect for indoor. It is one of the easiest plants to grow and can tolerate just about any indoor condition. They come in many different types, some are greener shades with silver patterns and some resemble lilies in a lighter shade. Water regularly and can be kept in the shade or near heavy sunlight. Purchase here.

CORN PLANT (MASSANGEANA)

This long-lived plant is suitable for any indoor area. Whether it be home, school, office, or commercial decor. It requires no direct sunlight, and it cleans the air from many toxins.

SPIDER PLANT ( CHLOROPHYTUM COMOSUM)

Spider Plants usually grow in cool temperatures and prefer dry soil. They can be grown in water only for a few weeks but won’t survive if not given the proper nutrients. They are easy to grow and can be replanted by just cutting off the sipiderettes and placing them into a pot.

LUCKY BAMBOO (DRACAENA SANDERIANA)

Lucky Bamboo can grow in soil or water. Native to Central Africa. This plant is known to bring “Luck” hence the day. It grows in different arrangements, forms, and patterns. Three stalks represent Fu (happiness), Lu (wealth), and Soh (long life). Six stalks represent good luck and wealth. Seven stalks represent good health. Eight stalks represent growth.

MONSTERA (MONSTERA DELICIOSA) 

Monstera is native to Mexico and is also sometimes called split-leaf philodendron. This plant requires gentle mist once a week and can, therefore, withstand humidity. Hence, why it thrives in the tropics. This plant will sure to give you that tropical vibe.

Tough and easy to grow. This luscious leafy evergreen will tolerate a range of growing conditions.

Another tough one! This plant will indicate what it needs. Water, Sunlight and Fertilizer is just the basic necessity for this one. There are only two types, the none-climbing, and the climbing variety.

The name comes from the Greek word meaning female dragon. In terms of taking care of this beauty, making sure the plant is slightly moist is just the most you can do for this one. Brown tips and yellowing may indicate poor drainage and overwatering.

This thick, tough-looking plant is not actually a Palm at all. Though it is native to Japan; this plant grows stiff, needle-clad Spears out from the center of the trunk. Even though they are lovely, the Japanese Sago Palm is poisonous to both humans and animals.
